| There’s self-love then there’s self-knowledge, and Belle de Jour definitely falls into the latter category. In case you’ve managed to escape the blogging celebrity that is Ms de Jour, she is (although some accuse her of being fake) a London call girl; well educated, self aware and entertaining. Her blog is where she tells the story of her daily life, in all its beautifully demystified glory. Don’t expect cliterature or a one handed read. She might describe the occasional bit of sex, but more often than not, it is far too witty and realistically observed to be a serious turn on.
Although she officially finished writing the blog several weeks ago now, if anything, this has only increased her popularity. The stories are diverting (only log on with time to spare), and the fact that these things are true makes it all the more compelling.
This is not porn. But it is a fantastic, compelling and sympathetic read.
